But if you’re looking for some February recipes to try this month, we’ve got plenty of delicious dishes that are a great way to take advantage of seasonal produce and comfort.

This menu leans into the seasonality, as well as marks a few food-centric occasions. Not only will you find breakfasts and comforting dinners, but I have included game day eats for any gatherings you might host or attend this month, as well as Mardi Gras recipes for a taste of South Louisiana and inspiration to cook your Valentine’s Day dinner at home.
What should I cook in the month of February?
Well, that depends on you and what you plan to do during a month such as this one.
For me, comfort foods are what my body craves, along with rich desserts. (Mostly chocolate, but I wouldn’t turn down a cookie, either.)
What is in season in the month of February?
There are so many delicious things that are in season during the winter, though many of these products are determined by where you live. Much of what was available and fresh is also in season during the month of February.
Citrus is widely available. You can find oranges (which include navel oranges, blood oranges, mandarins, satsumas, etc.), as well as grapefruit, lemons, meyer lemons, limes and more at grocery stores and local markets.
Apples, pears and pomegranates are some more fruits in season in February.
Winter squash and root vegetables are also prevalent. This includes thing like butternut squash, acorn squash, as well as veggies like sweet potatoes, rutabega, turnips, etc.
Cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage and cauliflower, are in season during the month of February.
Greens are in season during the winter months, as well. Farmers markets will be have a selection of collards, kale, mustard greens and more.
